Choosing an Engagement Ring |
DIAMONDS ARE A GIRL'S BEST FRIEND
Even though diamonds are a girl's best friend, the guy usually is the first one to get acquainted with this precious stone that will adorn his fiance's finger. I suggest you get to know the stone better!
Traditionally, the guy pays for the ring, and its a good ballpark to base the price-tag at two times your monthly salary.
What is important to understand when buying diamonds is Cut, Clarity, Colour and Carat i.e. the 4 Cs. One of our favorite suppliers (and also where I bought my rings) is Diamond Source and they are masters at teaching you the art of buying a good stone that will match your budget.
Why not design you own engagement ring? I found this to be so much more special and it gave me flexibilty in terms of my budget. Nielette and Caroline from Diamond Source are masters at helping you get a ring that is perfectly suited for your ideas. Visit their site at www.diamondsource.co.za for an introduction to their range of services when it comes to rings.
An aspect that most people forget is the metal chosen for the rest of the ring, and depending on the style of the ring in question, I recommend that you give thought to your needs, as metals range from yellow gold to platinum and titanium.
Always keep in mind that wedding bands will need to match the engagement ring when you have them made.
